Zombie March 2024

On October 19, the zombie march apocalypse will descend upon Mexico City, bringing with it a thrilling blend of fright and festivity. Get ready to join a horde of the undead in one of the city’s most anticipated events. Run… if you can!

The invasion begins

A sea of zombies will invade the Monument to the Revolution on Saturday, October 19. This unique spectacle is more than just a playful gathering; it’s an experience that embodies creativity, community, and charity. Anyone interested in participating can do so for free—just don your best zombie attire and prepare for a day filled with fun and fright!

Join the tradition

The Zombie March first took place in Mexico City in 2007, and since then, it has become a beloved tradition, attracting participants from all walks of life. Every year, participants embark on a hauntingly delightful journey from the Monument to the Revolution to the iconic Zócalo, the city’s main square. This year promises to be just as exhilarating, if not more so, as zombies of all shapes and sizes take to the streets.

Dressing the part

Whether you’re a zombie enthusiast or a first-time participant, there are two options for your appearance. You can arrive fully dressed in your most creative zombie costume or take advantage of the professional makeup tents that will be set up along the route. Skilled artists will be on hand to transform you into a grotesque version of yourself, so don’t be shy! The goal is to look as decayed and eerie as possible. And don’t forget: the more putrefied you appear, the better your chances of winning a Zombie Walk Prize for the best costume. This award goes to the most creatively dressed zombies, particularly those who make donations to the food bank.

A cause worth supporting

While the march is undoubtedly a fun and entertaining event, it carries an altruistic purpose as well. The main aim of this gathering is to collect food donations for institutions and vulnerable groups in need. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, such as canned tuna, rice, and beans. Last year, the march successfully collected over 1,000 kilograms of food, and this year, the goal is to surpass that total.

The collected items will be donated to the Alimento para Todos A.C. foundation, which distributes food supplies to over 90 communities across Mexico. Supporting this cause not only helps those in need but also enhances the sense of community and togetherness that the Zombie March embodies.
