Bicycle night ride
There is a new date for the Bicycle Night Ride with a Day of the Dead theme.
Anyone who is a fan of the cycling events organized in Mexico City knows that the best one, year after year, is the one held in honor of the Day of the Dead. There is something magical about crossing Paseo de la Reforma at night, in a caravan full of people dressed up or with their bikes decorated, breathing in the air scented with marigold flowers.
The Mobility Secretariat of Mexico City announced that the cycling event will be taking place on the streets as it does every year. The next Night Ride for Day of the Dead will be on Saturday, October 28th, and you can participate on roller skates, a bicycle, skateboard, or on foot. You can choose the mode that suits you, but don’t forget to decorate or dress up to follow the theme of the evening.
Where will the Night Bike Ride for Day of the Dead 2023 take place?
The route will start at the Fuente de Petróleos and end at Plaza Tlaxcoaque in the Historic Center of Mexico City. It will begin at 7 pm and conclude at 11 pm. There may be other activities organized; last year there were contests, live music, and some surprises, so something similar is expected.
The complete schedule of the event has not been released yet, but it will be available through the official social media channels of Mi Bici CDMX and the Mobility Secretariat. For now, get ready to ride 20 kilometers filled with marigold flowers and themed decorations.
The public is invited to come dressed as “catrinas” or “catrines” to keep the tradition alive. Remember that this is a free event suitable for all ages, so you can attend with family or friends.
You still have two weeks to practice in the Sunday rides organized by Mi Bici CDMX. If you don’t know how to ride a bike, you also have time to learn because, in addition to the rides, they offer bike lessons for people of all ages. Some of the locations are in the Zócalo and the Glorieta de la Diana Cazadora from 9 am to 1 pm.
