UFO or not UFO?

Jaime Maussan, Mexico’s leading researcher in UFO phenomena, is once again under scrutiny.

Despite all that is happening regarding presentation of non-human rests in the Congress, it has been one of the great achievements in Jaime Maussan’s career, Mexico’s top UFO researcher, to address the House of Representatives to discuss the UFO phenomenon. In fact, he not only talked about the phenomenon but also astonished the world by presenting the alleged ‘non-human’ remains of an entity over a thousand years old located in Cusco, Peru.

Accompanying Jaime Maussan were many UFO researchers from the United States, Argentina, Japan, and Mexico, all supporting the idea that people need to be prepared to accept and recognize that there are other types of intelligent, sentient beings that are not human.

The most notable aspect was that the researcher brought two small urns containing what were allegedly bones measuring roughly 60 centimeters, which he described as ‘non-human,’ though he did not want to use the term ‘extraterrestrial.’

The host explained that according to a carbon-14 analysis conducted by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) – and here lies the crux of the matter – it was concluded that these beings are over a thousand years old. Despite being “non-human,” they were not recovered from spaceships or space crashes but were rather beings found buried in mines.

The idea behind this was to state that these specimens have no relation to any known species on our planet, but they also do not constitute evidence of extraterrestrial life; they are only ‘non-human beings.’ In response to all the controversy, UNAM offered a statement. The UNAM Institute of Physics explained in a brief statement that their research work only determines the age of the bodies: “In no case do we draw conclusions about the origin of these samples.”

Furthermore, UNAM researchers distanced themselves from any “use, interpretation, or distortion of the results” of their analysis. They also clarified that the ‘samples’ consist of skin and brain tissue weighing approximately 0.5 grams, and the results were delivered to the requesting party. Nothing more.

The results delivered by UNAM in May 2017 only dated the organism using carbon-14 and concluded that these bodies had been buried for a millennium within diatoms, a type of algae that does not allow the growth of bacteria or fungi, which enabled their preservation.

Here, we can revisit what Julieta Fierro, a prominent researcher and communicator from the UNAM Institute of Astronomy, has said: “The first ones interested in finding extraterrestrial life are members of the scientific community.” “Astronomy is indeed searching for extraterrestrial life, and if life could develop on Earth, why not elsewhere? That’s why we are searching on Mars and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, which have subterranean seas.”

However, when it comes to claims and “evidence without scientific support,” such as those presented by Maussan or the statements by military personnel who claimed to have evidence of unidentified flying objects and non-human biological remains at the US Congress, it’s a different story.

“These sightings and announcements lack the scientific support that science seeks, meaning they should be analyzed, results should be available, in the case of new objects, we should know what they are made of, when the sighting occurred, and so on; science is more rigorous than this.”

The science communicator pointed out that Mexico has a telescope dedicated to the search for exoplanets, and when these are discovered and appear to have conditions for hosting life – such as atmosphere, water, or chemicals – the international community is informed.

“The telescope was modified; the project began 30 years ago, initially for studying the universe as a whole, but when they started discovering planets with water in the atmosphere, the telescope’s design was completely changed to search for extraterrestrial life.” Fierro provided another example of Mexican contributions to extraterrestrial life research.

“At the UNAM Institute of Nuclear Sciences, there is a large group of exobiologists, meaning researchers dedicated to searching for extraterrestrial life, and one of the researchers, Rafael Navarro, was studying the type of life that could exist on Mars.”

Likewise, Jois Mantilla, a journalist and researcher from Otro Mundo Comunicaciones, pointed out: “These are two species that have never been seen (…) In June 2017, before we presented the findings alongside Jaime Maussan at a press conference in Lima, some archaeologists and other professionals who claim to be part of the scientific community denounced fraud, the creation of bodies using remains of other animals, and publicly stated that artisans mutilated the hands and feet and trimmed the eye sockets of a real mummy in a workshop to give it an alien appearance.”

Mantilla emphasized that not enough research has been conducted on these beings, stating: “How many analyses, how many samples were taken, how many studies were conducted by this scientific community on these bodies? None, nothing, they didn’t even go to see them. These beings have been at the University of Peru (ICA) for four years and they haven’t even been examined.”

There is still a long way to go to unequivocally demonstrate the existence of life on other planets, interplanetary travel, and the presence of intelligent beings visiting Earth.

Who is Jaime Maussan?

Jaime Maussan is a Mexican journalist and television personality known for his work in the field of ufology and paranormal phenomena. He was born on May 31, 1953, in Mexico City, Mexico. Maussan is one of the most prominent figures in the investigation and promotion of unidentified flying objects (UFOs), extraterrestrial life, and other unexplained phenomena in Mexico and Latin America.

Throughout his career, Jaime Maussan has hosted radio and television programs, conducted interviews with individuals claiming to have witnessed UFO sightings or encounters with extraterrestrial beings, and organized various conferences and events related to UFOs and paranormal topics. He has also produced documentaries and written books on these subjects.

One of Jaime Maussan’s most famous cases involved the alleged UFO sighting in Mexico City in 1997, known as the “Mexican UFO Flotilla.” He presented videos and images of numerous bright lights in the night sky, which sparked significant public interest and debate.

Maussan’s work has garnered both passionate supporters and critics. While some view him as a dedicated investigator and advocate for the study of unexplained phenomena, others criticize him for promoting pseudoscience and sensationalism. His claims and evidence have often been met with skepticism from the scientific and skeptical communities.

It’s important to note that the credibility and scientific validity of many of Jaime Maussan’s claims and findings remain a topic of controversy and debate within the broader UFO and paranormal research community.
