Beauty of Jardin de Primavera

Mexico City, also known as CDMX, is a vibrant city that boasts a rich cultural heritage, delicious food, and beautiful architecture. One of the city’s most iconic landmarks is the Zocalo, the main square located in the heart of the city. Surrounded by historic buildings and museums, the Zocalo is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike. One of the highlights of the Zocalo is the Jardin de Primavera, a beautiful garden that offers a peaceful oasis in the middle of the bustling city. Discover why it’s a must-visit spot when in Mexico City.

History of Jardin de Primavera

The Jardin de Primavera is a relatively new addition to the Zocalo, having been established in 2013. The garden was created as part of an initiative to revitalize the Zocalo and make it a more welcoming space for both tourists and locals. The project was led by the government of Mexico City, in collaboration with the Italian embassy. The Jardin de Primavera was designed by Italian landscape architect Michelangelo Pistoletto.

The name of the garden comes from the season of spring, andto represents the rebirth and renewal of the Zocalo. The Jardin de Primavera spans over 1,000 square meters. It features a variety of plant species, including cacti, succulents, and flowering plants. The garden is also home to a large fountain that serves as a centerpiece, adding to the peaceful and serene atmosphere of the space.

Jardin de Primavera: design and layout

As mentioned earlier, the Jardin de Primavera was designed by Italian landscape architect Michelangelo Pistoletto. The garden’s design is unique, combining elements of traditional Mexican landscaping with contemporary design features. The garden contains several sections, each with its own distinct character and feel.

One of the most prominent features of the garden is the fountain, which is located in the center of the space. The design of the fountain makes it to resemble a whirlpool, with water flowing inwards towards the center. A circular walkway surrounds the fountain, allowing visitors to admire the fountain from all angles.

Another notable feature of the garden is the use of different levels and textures. The architect divided the garden into several terraced areas, with each level featuring a different type of plant or design element. The use of rocks, wood, and metal throughout the garden adds to its contemporary feel. The use of Mexican-inspired designs and patterns ties it back to the surrounding architecture.

A peaceful oasis in the city

The Jardin de Primavera is a peaceful oasis in the middle of the bustling city. The garden’s serene atmosphere is perfect for taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The garden is relaxing in a beautiful natural setting. The garden’s well-maintained plants and flowers offer a feast for the senses, with bright colors and sweet scents filling the air.

The garden is also a great spot for taking photos. Its unique design and beautiful backdrop provides the perfect setting for capturing memories. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the garden, admiring the plants and taking in the sights and sounds of the fountain.
